Abstract

Considering the media coverage of diverse and complex threats to national security and the double importance of news media in confronting this category of threats in a country like Iran that has a specific media system, and the decline in the news authority of the IRIB in recent years, providing appropriate strategies to confront national security threats by enhancing the IRIB's news authority is an undeniable necessity. This article answers the fundamental question of what are the appropriate strategies to confront national security threats based on increasing the news authority of the IRIB? To answer this question, using the documentary method and interviews with experts and elites, using the SWOT strategic model, offensive, competitive, conservative, and defensive strategies have been presented. These strategies include using new technologies to increase engagement with the younger generation, strengthening the first narrative in crises with live, analytical, and field coverage by professional journalists, rebuilding the face of the media by utilizing the language and formats popular with the new generation, and increasing transparency and multi-voice narrative to rebuild audience trust. Finally, the chronological order of the strategies is presented.
